MT. KENYA AND THE SAVANNAHS OF KILIMANJARO
The Kenya series forms the centre of this body of work, developed through sustained field research across environments ranging from the forests and alpine slopes of Mount Kenya to the savannahs beneath Kilimanjaro.
Created alongside a documentary film project in March 2026, the paintings emerged through conversations and collaborations with mountain guides, Maasai representatives, conservationists and sustainable farmers, as well as visits to Nairobi's contemporary art community at Circle Art Gallery, the African Arts Trust and Mlango Farm - an artist-led permaculture project exploring creativity, ecology and community.
Together, these encounters reveal a landscape understood not only through its geology and wildlife, but through the people who live, work and create within it. The resulting paintings seek to reflect the light, colour and cultural narratives of Kenya's sacred landscapes.

ABOUT THIS WORK
These paintings explore the relationship between land, resilience, and cultural memory within changing environments.
Developed through direct observation and extended time in specific locations, the works move between documentation and reflection - shaped as much by experience as by memory.
