APPROACH

Peter Kettle is a multidisciplinary artist and documentary filmmaker whose practice explores the cultural, ecological and spiritual relationships between people and place. Through expeditions, field research and long-term collaborations with local communities, his work investigates how landscapes become repositories of memory, identity and belonging.

Working across Wales, Japan, Patagonia, the Himalayas and East Africa, painting and documentary emerge from the same process of observation, conversation and immersion. Each project begins with time spent in the landscape - walking, sketching, recording, listening and learning from those who know it best.

Whether through film, painting or material investigation, each body of work seeks to understand not only how landscapes are seen, but how they are experienced, remembered and continually reshaped through human relationships. "I'm interested in the histories that accumulate within landscapes, and how painting can become another way of uncovering them."
