Adumu
44 x 30 cm
oil and mixed media on linen canvas
Framed in a custom designed oak frame
Adumu takes its name from the traditional Maasai jumping dance, encountered during my time in Kenya.
Rather than recording the scene literally, the painting holds onto the rhythm, movement and colour of the gathering: figures emerging from the landscape beneath a vast, shifting sky. Repeated reds and whites create a loose pulse across the canvas, recalling the collective energy of the dance and the surrounding Amboseli landscape.
