Painting at Namche Bazaar
EVEREST BASECAMP
14 days. 130km on foot. 5,364 metres.
Carrying a canvas roll through the Khumbu Valley, artist Peter Kettle and filmmaker Alex Green documented the pilgrimage to Everest Basecamp through painting, film and field recordings.
Along the way, discarded litter was collected and recycled into the paintings themselves - turning the expedition into both a celebration of the Himalayas and a reflection on their fragile future.

Four chapters from the trail to Everest Base Camp, bringing together notebooks, photographs, paintings and observations made along the way.
From Kathmandu and Lukla, through the Khumbu and eventually above 5,000 metres, the journals offer a closer look at the journey behind the paintings and film.

Inspired by the electric streets of Shibuya after dark, this print is reproduced from Peter Kettle's original mixed-media painting, created using collected maps, tickets, printed ephemera and field sketches gathered while travelling across Japan. Layering collage with paint, it captures the colour, rhythm and visual energy of Tokyo's iconic entertainment district.
