Excursion is the first painting in Ôl, an ongoing series exploring memory, landscape and the traces left behind through movement across place. Rather than depicting a specific location, the work draws upon fragments of journeys, geological forms and remembered experiences, allowing the landscape to emerge through successive layers of paint, texture and gesture.
Built over time using oil and mixed media, the painting embraces both construction and erasure. Marks are concealed, revealed and reworked, creating a surface that reflects the way memories shift and evolve rather than remain fixed. Existing between abstraction and landscape, Excursion invites the viewer to navigate the painting intuitively, discovering their own pathways through colour, form and atmosphere.
