Shipton’s Camp Descent, Mount Kenya

100 x 100 cm

oil and mixed media on linen canvas

Framed in a custom designed oak frame

Descending from Shipton’s Camp, the trail passes through one of Mount Kenya’s most extraordinary high-altitude landscapes, where giant groundsels rise from the valley beneath the mountain.

The painting draws on the strange scale and almost prehistoric character of this vegetation. The trail winds through broken colour and waterlogged ground, while the peaks of Mount Kenya appear above: distant, pale and monumental.
