Painted after an early morning arrival in Tengboche, this work centres on one of the stone cairns draped in prayer flags overlooking the monastery. Layers of oil paint, collage and expressive mark-making reflect the atmosphere of first light in the Khumbu, where ritual, landscape and the mountains become inseparable.
