Crossing the Dudh Kosi
80 x 80 cm
Oil paint, collage and mixed media on canvas
Painted during the approach to Everest Base Camp, this work reflects the suspension bridges that link villages across the Dudh Kosi River. Layers of oil paint, collage and expressive mark-making dissolve the landscape into memory, echoing the movement of water, forest and stone beneath the bridge. Rather than documenting a single moment, the painting captures the rhythm of walking through the lower Khumbu, where every crossing marked another step towards the mountains.
