Inspired by the Taveta golden weavers encountered in Kenya, their flashes of brilliant yellow appearing and disappearing amongst a dense network of branches.
Rather than describing the birds literally, the painting breaks the scene into fragments of colour, movement and line: the woven structure of the nests echoed through the marks across the surface.
