01 — INTO THE KHUMBU

Lukla → Namche Bazaar → Tengboche

Following the Dudh Kosi from Lukla into the Khumbu, crossing suspension bridges and climbing through forest towards Namche Bazaar. From here the trail continued beneath Ama Dablam towards Tengboche, as the scale of the Himalayas gradually revealed itself.

02 — HIGHER GROUND

Dingboche → Lobuche → Gorak Shep

Beyond Tengboche the trees disappeared and the landscape became increasingly exposed. Days were spent walking, painting and acclimatising as the trail climbed through Dingboche and Lobuche towards the edge of the Khumbu Glacier.

03 — EVEREST BASE CAMP

Kala Patthar → Gorak Shep → Base Camp

At more than 5,000 metres, rock, ice and moraine dominated the landscape. We climbed Kala Patthar and followed the Khumbu Glacier to Everest Base Camp, the culmination of ten days walking through the mountains.
